Privacy Policy
Last updated October 5, 2026
This policy explains how Coder B Dev, Inc. ("PodScene", "we", "us") handles personal data when you visit podscene.app, use the app at studio.podscene.app, or join a recording as a guest. For questions, or to use any of your rights, email support@podscene.app.
The short version
- We collect what we need to run the Service: your account details, your recordings, and the technical data needed to keep the Service secure.
- We don't sell your data, show ads, or use your recordings to train AI models.
- This website has no analytics and sets no cookies. The app uses only the cookies it needs to keep you logged in.
- Recordings are deleted automatically when your plan's retention period ends.
What we collect
- Waitlist
- Your email address, which page you came from, and when you confirmed. We use it only to send you an access code.
- Account
- Your username, email address and password (stored only as a secure hash), the organization and shows you belong to, and your role in them.
- Recordings and media
- The video and audio of everyone in a recording, including guests, plus the names on screen, layouts, images, backgrounds, intros and outros you upload. Guests are identified only by the name the host enters and by their recording.
- Usage
- Recorded hours, storage used, and the dates of your takes, so we can apply your plan's limits.
- Billing
- When paid plans are available, our payment processor collects your payment details. We see only your plan, billing status and the details we need for invoices, never your full card number.
- Technical data
- Your IP address and basic request information, used to deliver the Service, connect calls, limit abuse and keep it secure.
- Messages
- What you send us when you email support.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To provide the Service (account, recordings, compositing, downloads, plan limits): to perform our contract with you.
- To send the access code and service emails (verification, invites, password resets): with your consent for the waitlist, and to perform our contract for the rest.
- To keep the Service secure and prevent abuse: our legitimate interest in running a safe service.
- To bill you and keep records: our contract with you, and our legal obligations.
For guests, the host who invites them decides to record and is responsible for telling them and getting any consent the law requires. We process guests' recordings on the host's behalf.
How calls and recordings work
During a session, video and audio go directly between participants' browsers. If a network blocks direct connections, they're relayed through our server without being stored. Each participant's recording is made in their own browser and uploaded to our servers, where the finished video is rendered. Finished recordings are stored in our object storage and are only reachable through short-lived private links.
Who processes your data
We use these service providers, under contracts that limit them to processing data on our behalf:
| Provider | What for | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Hetzner Online GmbH | Servers and storage for recordings | Germany |
| Mailtrap | Sending email (access codes, verification, invites) | United States / European Union |
| Cloudflare, Inc. | Domain and DNS | Global |
| Stripe, Inc. | Payments, once paid plans are available | United States / Ireland |
We don't sell or rent personal data, and we don't share it with advertisers. We may disclose data if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or users' safety. If PodScene is sold or merged, data may transfer to the new owner under this policy.
International transfers
PodScene is operated from the United States, and our servers are in Germany. When personal data moves between the European Union, the UK and the United States, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
- Recordings: for your plan's retention period (3 to 60 days), then deleted automatically.
- Waitlist: unconfirmed sign-ups are deleted after 7 days. Confirmed ones are kept until you sign up or ask us to remove you.
- Account data: for as long as your account exists. When it's deleted, we remove your data, except what we must keep for legal, tax or accounting reasons.
- Technical data: only as long as needed for security and to fix problems.
Cookies
This website (podscene.app) sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking. The app (studio.podscene.app) uses only essential cookies to keep you logged in and protect your session. Because we don't use advertising or analytics cookies, there's no cookie banner.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, to restrict or object to how we use it, or to withdraw consent. Email support@podscene.app and we'll respond within 30 days. You can download your recordings yourself at any time from the app.
If you're in the EU or UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority. If you're a California resident, you have the right to know, delete and correct your data. We don't sell or share personal information as California law defines it, and we won't discriminate against you for using your rights.
If you were a guest on someone else's show, contact the host first, since they control that recording. We'll help where we can.
Security
We use HTTPS everywhere, store passwords only as secure hashes, keep recordings in private storage, and limit access to people who need it to run the Service. No system is perfectly secure, so if we learn of a breach that affects you, we'll tell you as the law requires.
Children
PodScene isn't for anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has given us personal data, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we make significant changes to this policy, we'll tell you by email or in the app before they take effect. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
