Getting started

From signing up to your first finished video.

1. Create your account

PodScene is opening in batches. Join the waitlist and we'll email you an access code when it's your turn.

  1. Go to studio.podscene.app/signup.
  2. Enter your show's name, a username, your email, a password and your access code, and accept the Terms.
  3. Open the verification link we email you. You can look around straight away, but you need a verified email to record.

Your account starts on the Free plan with one show, and that show already has a scene ready to use.

2. Open the Studio

Home lists your shows and their scenes. Each scene has two buttons: Studio, where you record, and Recordings, where your finished takes are. The ⋯ menu has the layout editor and lets you rename or delete the scene.

In the Studio, click Connect camera / mic and allow access when your browser asks. Pick your camera and mic, then watch the level meter while you talk and adjust Gain so it stays out of the red.

3. Set up the scene

  • Names on screen: open Scene settings and type the host's and guests' names.
  • Background, intro and outro: also in Scene settings. The background sits behind the cameras. The intro plays after the countdown when you start a take. The outro is added to the end of the finished video only.
  • Layout: open the Layout editor to place cameras, text and images. Start from a preset such as Side by side or Picture in picture and adjust from there. You can add more layouts and switch between them while recording.

4. Invite your guests

The Guests panel in the Studio has a link for each guest. Copy it and send it. Guests join from their browser and don't need an account. See Inviting guests.

5. Record

  1. Open the Checklist to check everyone's camera and mic. It warns you about problems but never stops you recording.
  2. Click Record. After a 3-2-1 countdown your intro plays, if you set one, and the take starts.
  3. Click Stop when you're done. Each person's recording finishes uploading, then PodScene renders the finished video.

Add your team

From Home, open Manage organization or Manage show and choose Invite someone by email. Pick what they can do:

Full control
Record and edit, delete recordings, add and remove scenes.
Can record & edit
Record, edit names, layouts and media, and see the OBS and guest links.
Can watch & download
Open the Studio and Recordings, and watch and download recordings.

Each team member uses a seat, and so does an invite until it's accepted or cancelled. Guests never use a seat. See Pricing for how many seats each plan includes.
