OBS and livestreaming
Your scene is a web page that OBS can show as a browser source, with your layout, your guests and their audio. Stream it with OBS while PodScene records.

Add your scene to OBS
- In the Studio, find OBS browser source under the live preview and click Copy.
- In OBS, click + under Sources, choose Browser and give it a name.
- Paste the link into URL, and set Width to
1920and Height to1080. - Turn on Control audio via OBS, so the call's audio shows up in the OBS audio mixer, then click OK.
OBS now shows exactly what the Studio's live preview shows. When someone connects, they appear in their spot in the layout.
Keep the OBS link private. Anyone with it can watch your scene. If you rename the scene, its address changes, so copy the new link into OBS.
Audio
The browser source plays the audio of everyone in the layout, including you. If OBS also has a mic source for you, mute it, or you'll be heard twice.
Set each person's level with the sliders in the Studio, or set the overall level with the browser source's fader in OBS.
What OBS shows while you record
- Layouts: switching layouts in the Studio (click a layout, or press 1–9) changes what OBS shows, with a smooth transition.
- Screen sharing: when someone shares their screen, OBS switches to the screen-share layout and goes back when they stop.
- Intro: when you press Record, OBS shows the 3-2-1 countdown, then plays your intro full screen.
- Outro: never shown live. It's only added to the finished video.
- Watermark: on the Free plan, OBS shows a small PodScene mark in the top-right corner. Paid plans don't.
Livestreaming with OBS
Because your scene is an ordinary OBS source, you can stream it anywhere OBS can, with your own account and stream key.
- In OBS, open Settings → Video and set both the base and output resolution to
1920x1080, so the scene fills the frame. - Open Settings → Stream, choose your service (YouTube, Twitch, or Custom for anything else) and enter your stream key or connect your account.
- Click Start Streaming in OBS when you're ready to go live.
- Click Record in the PodScene Studio when you want the take to start. Your viewers see the countdown and intro, so press it when you're ready to begin the episode.
The stream and the PodScene recording are independent. You can stream without recording, and stopping the take doesn't end the stream. The finished video PodScene renders comes from each person's own recording, not from the stream, so it isn't affected by stream quality.
Troubleshooting
- OBS shows nothing
- Check that the whole link was pasted. If you renamed the scene, copy the new link from the Studio.
- A guest is missing
- They appear once they've joined and their spot is in the current layout. Check the Guests panel in the Studio to see who's connected.
- No sound in OBS
- Make sure Control audio via OBS is on and the browser source's fader in the mixer isn't muted.
- The source looks stale
- Right-click the source, open Properties and click Refresh cache of current page.
